Gelibolu Osmanlı Mutfağı (Gallipoli Ottoman Cuisine)
OUR STORY
Our story began with our grandfather, who was born in Gallipoli (Gelibolu) in the 1930s…
Necati Göksel (Koca Usta, “the Great Master”) was born into a long-established family that had lived in Gallipoli for seven generations and had raised fine people in every walk of life – from shopkeepers to civil servants, from administrators to ney (reed flute) players. His whole childhood was spent around large family tables where delicious food was eaten and cheerful conversation flowed. These tables and the dishes served at them inspired the title by which Necati Göksel came to be known: “Koca Usta”.
The food he cooked with love from a young age was also much admired during his military service. There he met a master cook from Bolu, added what he learned from him to his own skills, and completed his service to his country.
From the 1960s onwards, Koca Usta Necati Göksel opened modest but high-quality shops in various parts of Gallipoli, and in a very short time both his mastery and his kindness became known all around.
We are rightly proud of having grown the small shop we inherited from our grandfather, registering it as a trademark 15 years ago under the name “Gelibolu Osmanlı Mutfağı” (Gallipoli Ottoman Cuisine).
Being chosen and appreciated by you always carries us forward. Without compromising our traditional character, we add new flavours from world cuisine to our menus every day.
For three generations we have welcomed you as our guests with the same enthusiasm our grandfather felt on his very first day.
Welcome…
