Gallipoli Holiday (Bayram) Desserts

Neighbourly relations among the people of Gallipoli (Gelibolu) are very warm. Especially before the bayram (religious holidays), the women of Gallipoli get together and make their preparations as a group.

Alongside classic homemade baklava, two Gallipoli specialities, “CEVİZLİ OTURTMA” (a walnut-filled pastry in syrup) and “DELİ OĞLAN SARIĞI” (a rolled pastry dessert, literally “crazy boy’s turban”), also grace the holiday tables.
