This monument commemorates the White Russians who fled their country after the Bolshevik Revolution, arrived in Turkey in 1920, settled in Gallipoli (Gelibolu) and died here. It has also earned its place in history as the first monument Russia built abroad after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991.
